Item Description Title of Artwork: Takaoka Douki — Bronze Slim-Neck Vase with Emerald & Gold Marble Finish A stunning slim-neck bronze vase crafted in the Takaoka Douki tradition of Toyama Prefecture, Japan — a metalworking heritage dating back over 400 years to 1609, when Lord Maeda Toshinaga invited master casters to establish what would become the center of Japanese bronze production. Today, Takaoka accounts for over 90% of all bronze casting output in Japan, and its works have been exhibited at international exhibitions including the Paris World Exposition. This vase is distinguished by its deep, layered surface finish: a base of rich emerald green is interwoven with networks of black and gold, producing a complex marble-like pattern inspired by the natural oxidation and patination techniques unique to Takaoka craftsmanship. The interplay of color — shifting between teal, deep black, and warm gold depending on the viewing angle — is a hallmark of the skilled multi-layer finishing process. The elongated neck and spherical body demonstrate the precise casting control that defines fine Takaoka metalwork. Intended as a decorative flower vase, this piece functions equally well as a standalone sculptural object. Size Height: 24 cm Width: 10 cm Weight: 755 g Include Plastic display stand included. Condition Unused and in excellent condition, with no scratches, stains, or damage observed. Artist Profile This vase is a product of the Takaoka Douki (高岡銅器) tradition, designated as a Japanese Traditional Craft by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Originating in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, the tradition was established in 1609 under the patronage of feudal lord Maeda Toshinaga. Takaoka craftsmen are renowned for their mastery of casting, engraving, inlay, and multi-layer patination techniques, producing works that range from decorative vessels to large-scale bronze monuments. The tradition commands over 90% of Japan's bronze production and continues to be highly regarded in international markets. NOTICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
