The historical roots of this watch date back to 1916, when Tissot introduced an innovative rectangular timepiece that was exported to the Russian market. In August 1917, a member of the Russian royal court sent his gold watch to the Tissot factory in Switzerland for repair and restoration. During the servicing period, the Bolshevik (Russian) Revolution broke out, leading to the collapse of the Tsarist regime and the imposition of strict restrictions on importing precious metals. As a result, Tissot was unable to return the watch to its owner. The company preserved the design in its archives and later revived it under the name “Heritage Banana” as a tribute to this remarkable historical legacy.
