2 volumes out of the 12 volume series "Les Chefs-d'Oeuvres de Shakespeare, illustrée par Jean Gradassi". French translation by V. Hugo. Chant de Sphères, 1972. No. 838 of a limited edition of 3451 copies. 195 and 180 pages. Richly blind-stamped and gold decorated full leather bindings protected in slipcases. Printed on thick paper. Top edge gilt, the other edges uncut. Each play is illustrated by 3 full page plates, 3 vignettes at the beginning of acts, and a number of small decorative tail pieces. The volume containing Gentilhommes de Vérone and Antoine et Cléopatre is further illustrated with a double-page plate illustrating 12 differnt Shakespeare plays.
Very good condition with no signs of use. The spines a little sun faded. Note: some of the close-up photos are a little out of focus at the borders. The printing of the illustrations is perfectly sharp!
