Wakizashi by Shinano no Kami Fujiwara Nobuyoshi — Mid-Edo Period Yamashiro Swordsmith An exceptional wakizashi by Shinano no Kami Fujiwara Nobuyoshi, a respected swordsmith of the mid-Edo period and counted among the "Kyo Goji" — the Five Master Smiths of Kyoto's Yamashiro tradition. The 44.3cm blade displays a dynamic, beautifully animated midare-ba (irregular temper line), with rich and varied activity visible within the hamon, catching the light with refined brilliance from every angle. Signed (mei) on the tang: "Shinano no Kami Fujiwara Nobuyoshi" (信濃守藤原信吉). Accompanied by its original Japanese Sword and Firearm Registration Certificate (登録証), issued by the Ishikawa Prefecture Board of Education, as required by Japanese law for legal possession and export of antique edged weapons.
