Κέλτικος μπρούντζος Διπλό Ανθρωπομορφικό Φυλαχτό - 22 mm (χωρίς τιμή ασφαλείας)

Celtic Bronze Double Anthropomorphic Amulet Culture / Period: Celtic Date / Period: 300–50 B.C. Material: Bronze Dimensions: 22 mm Condition: Good condition. Complete with suspension loop. Surface wear and patina consistent with age. No shipping outside the European Union. Due to complex export regulations concerning cultural goods, this item cannot be shipped outside the EU. Please ensure you have a delivery address within the European Union before placing a bid. Provenance information: Object Registration ID: 187 The current owner purchased the Celtic bronze amulet from a private collector, N.N. in Drunen. The previous owner, a private collector, N.N. from Drunen (the Netherlands), stated that the object had been in his collection since the 1990s. According to the previous owner, the object had previously been in a private collection in the Netherlands since the 1980s. No further information concerning the earlier ownership history of the object was available from the previous owner. Background Information: This small bronze pendant amulet belongs to the Celtic cultural sphere of the Late Iron Age and can be dated to approximately 300–50 B.C. The object is cast in a highly stylised manner and appears to represent a double anthropomorphic figure, a form known from Celtic decorative and symbolic art of the La Tène period. The composition is characterised by two elongated heads or pointed headdresses rising side by side from a shared body. Beneath them are curved projections that may represent bent arms raised towards the face or chest. The symmetrical arrangement and abstract rendering are typical of Celtic artistic traditions, which often favoured symbolic and schematic forms over naturalistic representation. While the precise meaning of such pendants remains uncertain, similar anthropomorphic amulets are generally interpreted as objects with a protective, ritual, or religious function. The figures may represent worshippers, ancestral beings, mythological characters, or divine entities, although no definitive identification can be made. Without archaeological context, the interpretation must remain cautious. The suspension loop indicates that the piece was intended to be worn as a pendant. Personal amulets played an important role in Iron Age society and were often carried close to the body as expressions of identity, belief, protection, or social affiliation. The Celtic world of the Late Iron Age extended across much of Western and Central Europe, including present-day France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and parts of the British Isles. Artistic motifs, religious concepts, and metalworking traditions circulated widely through trade networks and cultural contacts, creating a rich and distinctive visual culture. Small bronze amulets such as this formed part of that tradition and demonstrate the skill of Celtic metalworkers in creating symbolic objects on a miniature scale. Dating to the Late Iron Age, this amulet provides a direct and tangible connection to the spiritual and symbolic world of the ancient Celts. Its unusual double anthropomorphic design reflects the abstract artistic language for which Celtic craftsmanship is renowned and offers a fascinating glimpse into the beliefs and personal adornment of pre-Roman Europe.
