Up for auction today is a Richard Keilwerth German-system Bb clarinet. Richard Keilwerth (born 1906) was a prominent member of the famous Keilwerth instrument-making dynasty. While the Julius Keilwerth branch became famous for saxophones, Richard Keilwerth specialized in building exceptional clarinets. The Richard Keilwerth "Melody" is a popular German-system clarinet known for its traditional craftsmanship (grenadilla wood with an ABS bell), warm tonal character, and reliability as a student or mid-range instrument. The "Melody" model served as a highly regarded entry-to-intermediate model. Because the Keilwerth workshop ceased production after the passing of master builder Thomas Keilwerth, these instruments are highly sought after as vintage gems! Condition: The clarinet is in good condition considering its age and shows clear signs of previous use. The instrument will need a full overhaul to be in pristine playing condition. During inspection no cracks in the wood were observed. A wonderful clarinet for sure that would make a great addition for a student, advanced player and/or collector, so don't miss out!
