MugenkukanS-6 無限空間S-6(むげんくうかんS-6) | Ito Takayasu 伊藤隆康(いとうたかやす)
Ito Takayasu pursued an abstract expression eliminating traces of handwork and left screen print works from the late 1970s to his later years. The most important theme in his prints is "The Infinite." He brought the ideology of "de-painting that eliminates color and images from the screen," which he had consistently pursued since his early three-dimensional and sculptural works, into the plane of prints. The work features a mathematical and geometric composition. The aesthetics of contemporary art eliminating individual emotions and handwriting is expressed.
Artist Profile:
Ito Takayasu (1934–1985) was a formative artist and painter born in Hyogo Prefecture. After studying oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts, he developed contemporary art expressing matter and infinite space through three-dimensional works utilizing plaster and straw rope, as well as print and two-dimensional works such as silkscreen. His works are in the collections of museums including The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
