Item Description 高島朝生 Takashima Chosei — 白青磁 White Celadon Flower Vase, 京焼 Kyo-yaki (Kyoto Ware) A wheel-thrown white celadon (hakuseiji) flower vase by Takashima Chosei of Heian Touen, Kyoto. The egg-shaped form swells gently at the shoulder and narrows to a quietly contracted rim. The surface is covered in an even, luminous glaze ranging from pure white to the faintest whisper of cool blue-green — the hallmark of Kyoto hakuseiji at its most refined. No painted decoration interrupts the form; light plays across the smooth glaze, creating subtle tonal shifts that vary with the angle of viewing. The wooden box lid bears the ink inscription 白青磁花瓶 (White Celadon Flower Vase) with the maker's signature and red seal. The artist's ceramic seal is impressed on the underside of the base. Whether arranged with flowers or displayed alone, this vase brings a quiet, enduring beauty to any interior. Size Height: 20.0 cm Diameter: 13.0 cm Weight 1,580 g Include Original wooden box with ink inscription and red seal (共箱) Condition The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. The wooden box shows age-related wear. The artist's ceramic seal is present on the underside of the base, along with a small gold pen inscription by a previous owner. Artist Profile 高島朝生 Takashima Chosei was a Kyoto-based ceramic artist associated with Heian Touen (平安陶苑), specialising in white celadon (hakuseiji) porcelain. White celadon is rooted in the classic celadon wares of China's Song dynasty, characterised by a pure, luminous glaze with a faint blue-green tint applied to clean, wheel-thrown forms without painted ornamentation. Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware) has been produced in Kyoto for over four centuries and was designated a Traditional Craft of Japan by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 1977. NOTICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
