verreries Scailmont - Φιάλη οίνου - ΑΡΤ ΝΤΕΚΟ - ΔΕΚΑΕΤΙΑ ΤΟΥ 1930 - Γυαλί

Scailmont Art Deco Decanter and Glass in Rosaline Glass, Belgium, ca. 1930 An elegant and increasingly scarce Art Deco decanter with its original matching drinking glass, produced by Les Verreries de Scailmont in Belgium around 1930. Made in beautifully moulded Rosaline glass, the set displays a delicate blush-pink colour and refined geometric decoration composed of elongated diamond motifs and finely detailed star rosettes, characteristic of Belgian Art Deco design. The decanter’s rounded silhouette is perfectly complemented by the matching tumbler, which serves as the original stopper—an ingenious and highly decorative design intended as a bedside water service, combining practicality with sophisticated aesthetics. This model is documented in the original Scailmont sales catalogue of circa 1930 (model no. 110) and is reproduced in the reference publication Les Verreries de Scailmont à l’époque Art Déco, confirming its authenticity and historical provenance. The decanter and glass remain in very good antique condition, with only light signs of age consistent with careful use over nearly a century. As is typical of pressed glass produced during this period, minor manufacturing characteristics such as tiny air bubbles, slight variations in the glass, or other small imperfections may be present, reflecting the original production process rather than defects. With its elegant proportions, warm Rosaline colour, and complete original configuration, this set is an excellent example of Belgian Art Deco glassmaking. Equally suitable as a bedside water service, a refined decorative object, or a collectible display piece, it brings timeless elegance and authentic 1930s design into both classic and contemporary interiors. Scailmont glass ( Verreries de Scailmont) in Belgium, is renowned for its exquisite Art Deco and Art Nouveau designs. Founded by Henri-Raphaël Hirsch, (who had established the “Saint-Laurent Glassworks” a few years earlier) in 1901 in Manage, the factory specialized in molded and satin-finished glassware, featuring intricate etching, enameling, and sandblasting techniques. Collaborations with renowned designers such as Henri Heemskerk and Charles Catteau brought international acclaim, particularly after the 1925 Paris Exposition. Scailmont’s products, including vases and tableware, were often marked with the factory’s name or designer signatures, making them highly collectible. The company also partnered with brands like Boch Frères and Val-Saint-Lambert Despite industry challenges, Scailmont remained a key player in Belgium’s glass industry until it merged with Durobor in 1976 and ceased operations in 2000. Today, Scailmont glass is prized for its elegant designs and fine craftsmanship. Will be well packaged, protected and insured
