The Beolab 4000 is one of Bang & Olufsen's most recognisable designs: a compact, leaf-shaped aluminium-clad ACTIVE loudspeaker (amplifiers built in) that can sit on a shelf or hang on the wall at almost any angle, aimed straight at the listener. The sculpted aluminium body is not only beautiful - it also doubles as the heat sink for the internal amplifiers. Designed by David Lewis, one of B&O's most celebrated designers, and honoured with the iF Design Award and Japan's Good Design Award in 1998. This is the ORIGINAL version - the one enthusiasts prefer - with the linear Class A/B amplifier and, importantly, a dedicated RCA Line-in alongside B&O Power Link. So they are not locked to a B&O system: you can connect almost any line-level source such as a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi receiver, a pre-amp or a TV (the later MKII dropped the separate Line-in socket). As active speakers, no separate amplifier is needed - just add a source.
