Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

Artist: Gyokusho (玉松)
Period: 1900-2000
Subject: Parent and Child Frogs on a Leaf
Material: Boxwood (Buxus)
Technique: Hand-carved

Dimensions:

Height: 25 mm
Width: 53 mm
Depth: 31 mm

Weight:

13 g

This finely hand-carved boxwood netsuke depicts a parent frog and its young resting on a large leaf, creating a charming composition inspired by the beauty of nature. The detailed carving of the frogs' textured skin and the natural curves of the leaf beautifully demonstrate the artisan's exceptional craftsmanship.

The piece is signed Gyokusho (玉松) and displays a rich honey-colored patina that enhances the natural beauty of the boxwood.

In Japanese culture, the frog (kaeru) symbolizes safe return, good fortune, prosperity, and renewal. The parent-and-child motif further represents family harmony, protection, and the continuation of generations, making this a meaningful and auspicious subject.

A delightful addition to any netsuke or Japanese art collection.

Condition:
Good vintage condition consistent with its age. There are minor signs of age and handling, including light surface wear and a beautiful natural patina. Overall, the carving remains in very good condition. Please examine the photographs carefully for the overall condition.

The item will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking.

We use Japan post as a usual shipping method.
