Dial and Hands
The dial of this Starliner 900 is a masterclass in texture and depth, featuring a stunning vertically brushed silver surface that remains exceptionally clean and free of significant spotting or moisture damage. Prominent applied block indices, detailed with black inserts and white center stripes, provide excellent legibility and a strong architectural presence. At twelve o'clock, the iconic Rado rotating anchor logo sits atop a vibrant red background. A framed day-date aperture is positioned at three o'clock, displaying the day in Spanish. The outer minute track is punctuated by intact tritium lume pips that have aged to a highly attractive, warm pumpkin hue. The steel baton hands, also featuring black central stripes, exhibit some mild surface oxidation and aging visible under close inspection, which perfectly complements the authentic vintage character of the watch.
Case and Crystal
The oversized, high-polish tonneau case is a defining feature of this model, offering a substantial and distinctive silhouette. The stainless steel surfaces show honest, age-consistent wear, including fine hairline scratches, minor dings, and localized surface marks across the broad flat upper area and case flanks. The Rado-signed crown is present but displays noticeable surface pitting and wear on its domed end. The screw-down caseback is well-preserved, featuring the deeply stamped Rado seahorse medallion alongside clear reference and serial numbers. The crystal remains clear and well-maintained, providing an unobstructed and distortion-free view of the dial beneath.
Movement
Inside beats the reliable Swiss-made ETA Caliber 2789-1 automatic movement, featuring 17 jewels and a signed Rado gold-toned rotor. Close inspection reveals a clean and well-preserved mechanism, maintaining the authentic mechanical character of the era. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher results indicate a performance of +14s to +18s/d.
Strap
The watch is paired with a handsome dark brown leather strap featuring an elegant alligator-style grain and tonal stitching, complementing the vintage aesthetic perfectly.
Condition
This timepiece is presented in good vintage condition. While the case and crown exhibit clear signs of regular wear, scratches, and minor dings consistent with decades of use, the dial remains in near-mint condition, serving as the pristine visual focal point of the watch.
Dimensions
The case measures 36 mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
