The SMC Pentax 55mm f/1.8 is a manual-focus standard prime introduced in 1975 as part of Asahi Optical's original K-mount lineup, launched with the Pentax K2 and KX bodies. It carries over the well-regarded optical heritage of the earlier M42 Takumar standards, using a six-element, five-group design. The lens benefits from Pentax's renowned SMC (Super-Multi-Coating), giving excellent flare control and rich rendering. Solidly built in Japan, it is a classic of the early K-mount era and a favourite normal lens among Pentax shooters.

Mount & Compatibility
This is a native Pentax K-mount manual-focus lens (e.g. SMC Pentax / Pentax-M series). It works on Pentax K-mount film SLRs and, with stop-down or supported metering, on Pentax DSLRs that accept K-mount lenses. On mirrorless it can be used with a simple Pentax-K adapter.
