Lazarus lived in Bethany with his two sisters Martha and Mary. This family loved the Lord Jesus Christ very much and always welcomed Him with joy.
When Jesus Christ came to Bethany, Lazarus had already been in the grave for four days. According to Jewish custom, the deceased mourned for seven days, and for this reason there were many people in Lazarus' house, among whom there were probably many relatives who had come from Jerusalem. In her grief, Mary fell at the feet of the Lord. And He, seeing Mary and the others weeping loudly, burst into tears.
When they reached the tomb, the Lord ordered them to lift the stone. The strong smell greatly disturbed the grieving Martha. She was filled with terror just at the thought of seeing her beloved brother disfigured by death. Then Jesus Christ revealed the weakness of her faith.
The miracle of the resurrection of the four-day-old Lazarus is associated with God the Father, therefore, when it was performed, Jesus Christ thanked God the Father for the fact that, by His will, Lazarus' life was restored.
The Savior utters his prayer to God the Father in front of everyone, because the people, seeing and hearing this conversation between God the Father and Jesus Christ, will more easily believe that He is the Son of God.
At the resurrection of Lazarus, Jesus Christ reveals his power as God and Lord, that he is the Source of life. Even before His sufferings on the cross, He showed that He is the Victor of death.
This gospel event is a testimony to our common resurrection.
Lazarovden is a celebration of the fields and forests, but also a celebration of the girls who perform Lazarus. It was believed that a girl who had not performed lazarus could not marry. That's why it was mandatory for every girl in the village to lazo.
Already in the middle of the Easter fast, young women gather at an old experienced woman and begin to study the Lazarus songs, which are always associated with some kind of wish - for blessing, for a good marriage, good luck.
Then, on the Saturday of Lazarov's Day, the girls leave their guide's house and go around the whole village. When they enter a house, they perform a special dance - "buenek", they tap the ground to induce fertility.
They are greeted with much love and joy by all the owners, they are presented with raw white eggs, flour and various other food products and they are sent with good wishes, because a house in which it is lazaruvado will be happy and be visited by luck.
