The Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 S.C. is the classic standard lens of Canon's manual-focus FD system, introduced in 1973 with the original breech-lock mount. The "S.C." denotes Canon's Spectra Coating, and the lens uses a time-honoured double-Gauss design of six elements in four groups with a six-blade aperture and a close-focus distance of 0.6 m. Compact, sharp and beautifully made in Japan, it was supplied with countless Canon film SLRs of the 1970s and remains a much-loved standard prime — both on its native FD bodies and, via a simple adapter, on modern mirrorless cameras.

Mount & Compatibility
This lens uses the Canon FD mount and is fully native to Canon FD-mount film SLR bodies (e.g. AE-1, A-1, F-1). It is a manual-focus lens.
Note: The Canon FD mount is NOT compatible with modern Canon EOS (EF/RF) cameras without a corrective optical adapter, due to the short FD flange distance. On mirrorless bodies (Sony E, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds, Canon RF, etc.) it can be used with a simple FD-to-mirrorless adapter.
