Hellenistic Greek Bronze Head Appliqué – 4th to 1st Century BC A finely cast Hellenistic Greek bronze head appliqué depicting a stylised human face with elongated features, almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose and delicately modelled lips. The hollow reverse indicates that it originally served as a decorative appliqué attached to a larger object, such as a vessel, casket, piece of furniture or ceremonial fitting. The expressive modelling reflects the artistic traditions of the Hellenistic period, when bronze decorative fittings were widely employed to embellish luxury objects. The surface preserves an attractive archaeological patina with areas of dark brown and green mineralisation, consistent with long-term burial and age.
