Dial and Hands
The dial presents a beautiful silver sunburst finish, elevated by the applied winged hourglass logo and the signature five stars of the Admiral line. Applied indices feature black inserts that coordinate nicely with the baton hands, maintaining a highly legible layout. The dial is well-preserved with crisp details, though minor dust and spotting can be observed under macro magnification. The lume plots positioned at the base of the indices display dark aging, which matches the aged and darkened luminous strips on the hands. The hands themselves show minor oxidation and spotting on the metal surfaces under magnification, reflecting their original aged condition.
Case and Crystal
Fashioned from stainless steel, the 35mm tonneau-style case displays brushed upper surfaces that transition neatly into polished flanks. The case exhibits honest vintage wear, with light scratches and handling marks consistent with age, while the edges remain reasonably defined without heavy polishing. A smooth polished bezel ring is integrated into the design, showing light surface scratches consistent with the rest of the case. The watch is fitted with a signed crown bearing the Longines name and winged hourglass logo, offering good knurling definition. A clear, domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, showing minimal visible wear and no major deep scratches, crazing, or cracks.
Movement
Inside the case beats the Longines Caliber 506 automatic movement, a 21-jewel mechanism. Visually, the movement displays significant spotting and plating loss on the rotor, though the base plates and bridges appear relatively clean in comparison. The balance wheel and hairspring are fully intact. Recording +15+18s/day on the timegrapher. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced on 12 June 2026.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet, a classic vintage beads of rice design in stainless steel. It secures via a clasp signed with the Longines winged hourglass logo. The bracelet shows normal wear and light scratches on the links and clasp, accommodating a maximum wrist size of up to 20 cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 12 June 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The dial remains highly attractive with minor spotting and natural dark aging to the luminous material. The case shows honest, age-appropriate wear and light scratches but retains its fundamental geometry. The original bracelet displays normal wear consistent with the case. While the movement rotor exhibits significant spotting and plating loss visually, the caliber is running beautifully.
Dimensions
The case size is 35mm, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Longines Admiral offers fantastic 1970s charm through its tonneau case and sunburst dial. Complete with its original beads of rice bracelet and a freshly serviced automatic movement, it presents a compelling opportunity to acquire a highly wearable and mechanically robust vintage classic.
History
The Longines Admiral line emerged as a premier collection for the brand, frequently recognized by the five stars applied to the dial to signify quality and reliability. During the 1970s, Longines experimented with case shapes, moving away from strictly traditional round designs toward the tonneau and cushion cases that defined the era's aesthetic. The Caliber 506 automatic movement inside represents the brand's in-house manufacturing capabilities during a period of transition in the Swiss watch industry, delivering dependable performance wrapped in distinct, recognizable styling.
