The JADE series is built around a simple idea: the shape of the cup should serve the coffee. Unlike traditional cups, these are lower and wider, handleless bowls with rounded, angled walls that guide the coffee as it flows in and preserve the layers of aroma that a good espresso machine creates. The slightly angled rim gives a comfortable, spill-free sip, and the cup sits naturally in the cradle of your hand. Made from thick, high-quality porcelain, they hold their heat well — you can even warm them on top of the espresso machine before pulling a shot. They are dishwasher-safe. The set covers the full coffee day in four sizes: 2 × Espresso / Ristretto cup — 50 ml (78 mm wide × 46 mm high) 2 × Coffee cup — 100 ml (88 mm wide × 55 mm high) 2 × Cappuccino cup — 180 ml (107 mm wide × 55 mm high) 2 × Latte Grande cup — 380 ml (108 mm wide × 83 mm high) Alongside the cups are dark brown cork coasters — 4 small (105 × 105 mm) and 4 big (250 × 110 mm), each big coaster made to hold two cups. The JADE series was designed by Maarten Baptist together with a local barista and producer, over two years of development and countless iterations to arrive at a shape that feels both new and archetypal.
