Seiko Lord Marvel 36000 — Ref. 5740-8000 — Hi-Beat Manual Winding, Gold-Plated — 1975
Overview
A vintage Seiko Lord Marvel 36000 — one of Japan's first high-beat wristwatches, whose manual-winding calibre 5740C beats at an impressive 36,000 vibrations per hour for a smooth sweeping seconds hand. The silver linen-textured dial carries gold Arabic numerals at every hour, framed by a gold-plated (SGP) case. Based on the serial number, this example was produced in August 1975.

- Movement: Manual winding — calibre 5740C, hi-beat 36,000 bph
- Case: Gold-plated (SGP) with stainless steel snap back, marked WATER RESISTANT
- Dial: Silver with linen texture, gold Arabic numeral indices (1–12), no date

Condition
In good vintage condition with visible signs of wear consistent with its age. The dial remains attractive for its age, with only light dulling to the hands and indices. There is a small spot near the 2 o'clock position on the crystal (scratch or debris — see photos). The gold-plated case shows rubbing to the plating on the lugs and case sides, with reddish-brown discolouration/dulling near the lug bases and bezel edge. The case back shows numerous fine scratches. The leather strap shows wear creases, stretched holes and some white residue on the keeper. Please refer to the photos, which form part of the condition description.
Working order
The watch is in working order (running at the time of listing). As a vintage timepiece around 50 years old, accuracy and water resistance are not tested or guaranteed, and routine servicing may be beneficial.
