Emi Sato "Kiss" – Υπογεγραμμένο μεζωτίν, Γάτα & Πεταλούδα, 27/50 - Emi Sato - Ιαπωνία - 21ος αιώνας

Item Description Emi Sato (Satō Emi, b. 1973) – "Kiss" – Original Signed Mezzotint, Edition 27/50 A tender, exquisitely detailed mezzotint by Japanese printmaker Emi Sato, titled "Kiss." Working in the demanding mezzotint technique — prized for its deep velvety blacks and subtle tonal gradations — the artist captures an intimate close-up of a cat's face as it gently touches noses with a small butterfly perched on its whiskers. The dramatic contrast between the inky black background and the finely rendered texture of the cat's fur showcases the painstaking "rocking" and burnishing process characteristic of mezzotint printmaking, in which every gradation of light is worked by hand from a solid field of black. Sato is known for her devotion to cats, birds, and small creatures as subjects, and this work is a lovely example of her signature style: quiet, affectionate, and rendered with remarkable technical precision. The print is pencil-signed by the artist, numbered 27/50, and titled "Kiss" in the lower margin, printed on Hahnemühle Natural White paper. It is presented in a two-tone wooden frame with a natural wood inner border and a darker outer moulding, ready to hang. A charming addition for collectors of contemporary Japanese printmaking or cat-themed art. Size Height: 16.7 cm Width: 12.3 cm Depth: 1.6 cm (Image size: 8 × 6.5 cm — framed dimensions above, excluding hanging hardware) Weight: 156g The print, mat, and frame appear to be in good, well-preserved condition with no visible tears, stains, or damage to the artwork; please refer to the photographs for a full visual assessment. Artist Profile Emi Sato (b. 1973, Chiba Prefecture, Japan) is a printmaker specializing in mezzotint, a rare and technically demanding copperplate engraving method. She graduated from the Design Department of the Junior College of Musashino Art University in 1993 and began working with mezzotint in 1995. Her work has been selected for the International Miniature Print Exhibition in England multiple times (starting 1996) and the British International Miniature Print Exhibition, and she has held numerous solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Niigata, and Taiwan, among other venues. Cats, birds, and small creatures are recurring subjects in her delicate, atmospheric compositions, which are admired for their soft tonal transitions and quiet emotional warmth. ~NOTICE~ Your item will be carefully packaged and shipped via Japan Post, DHL, or FedEx, depending on the size and destination. Please allow approximately 3 weeks for delivery under normal circumstances. Please note that import duties, taxes, and any additional customs charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost, and are the buyer's responsibility upon arrival.
