This antique agate bead necklace, passed down through generations in Tibet, is a handcrafted set of dozens of natural agate beads of varying shapes and sizes. Agate is a sacred gemstone of great significance in Tibetan culture. The entire set is made from natural, unprocessed agate, in two main color families: deep red and orange-yellow. The beads are translucent and lustrous, and have developed a rich, warm patina over time. Each bead exhibits a natural, weathered orange-peel texture, and the perforations at both ends have smooth, rounded wear marks from years of stringing. The bead shapes are diverse, including bamboo-shaped agate beads; long, conical old-style beads; square column beads with carved meander patterns; double-hole antique beads; and round spacer beads. Each bead is hand-polished and carved, with the square column beads featuring traditional Tibetan meander patterns engraved on the surface, their lines simple and flowing, and the hand-carved marks clearly visible. The entire necklace is hand-strung with thick brown cotton rope, the knots secure.
