Very beautiful, vibrant red, 3 row natural Bamboo Coral necklace with a mother of pearl clasp accent. Length: 45cm inner row to 50cm outer row. 8mm round polished coral beads. Metal push clasp.
Bamboo coral is a real coral. It is a member of the Cnidaria phylum, which also includes brain coral and staghorn coral. Red and pink corals produce a calcite skeleton similar in hardness to ivory and pearls. Bamboo coral (Isididae family) and red coral (typically Corallium rubrum) differ significantly in colour and rarity. Red coral is a deep-red precious material from the Mediterranean, while bamboo coral is naturally white/gray, dyed red, and used as a more abundant, affordable alternative. Treatment of Coral beads: Red dyed and resin stabilized.
