The Sloane is a beautiful interpretation of the classic penny loafer. Its lines build a fascinating bridge to the rugged origins of Northern European footwear. The distinctive, vertical seam on the toe was originally conceived for Norwegian fishermen to prevent moisture penetration through a special, extremely dense hand-stitching technique. What once arose from pure, rustic utility has been elevated by Edward Green through consummate craftsmanship into an unmistakable trademark. On this model, the traditional vertical seam appears only as a wonderfully subtle, quiet intimation in the velvety mocca suede.
The creation of this shoe requires extraordinary dedication to traditional craftsmanship. Crafted on the proven 61 last, the loafer offers a wonderfully balanced, classically rounded shape. The true centerpiece is the hand-stitched apron, an exceptionally demanding and time-consuming task that requires absolute precision with awl and thread. This fine upper leather is supported by a masterful Goodyear-welted sole construction made of oak-bark tanned leather that was allowed to mature in pits for many months. It is a quiet masterpiece that preserves the countless hours of its making in every single stitch.

Leather/ Outer Condition: The upper leather is in an absolutely mint overall condition. The material properties and the flawless appearance suggest that the shoes were worn only once for a very short period at most. The high-quality material has been preserved in its almost original state.
Heel/ Sole: The leather sole and the heel show only minimal signs of contact, which document the superficial ground contact during the extremely brief period of wear. The material substance of the entire undercarriage is fully intact and in excellent condition, coming very close to the state of an unworn pair.
Other: The Sloane is a penny loafer by Edward Green in which the craftsmanship of the house finds its quiet perfection. Original box and shoe bags are included.
