Item Description This lot presents a set of three Japanese natsume-style lacquer tea caddies, traditionally used for storing matcha powder in the tea ceremony (chanoyu). Each caddy has a rounded, egg-shaped body with a smoothly fitted lid, finished in high-gloss urushi lacquer. The largest piece is decorated in deep red lacquer with maki-e style gold decoration depicting a paulownia (kiri) crest alongside a chrysanthemum (kiku) crest, both rendered in gold with fine detailing. The interior lip of this piece shows contrasting black lacquer. The second caddy is finished in a warm orange-red tone with a black-lacquered interior rim, left plain without additional decoration. The third and smallest caddy has a fully rounded, ball-like silhouette in a vivid vermillion red, also undecorated, giving it a simpler and more compact appearance compared to the other two. Together the three pieces form a graduated set, differing in size, shape, and surface tone, making an attractive display when placed side by side.
