Up for auction today is a Fascinating Historical Artifact - Cor Anglais/English Horn manufactured at the famous early Soviet manufacturing plant: "Пятилетие Октября" (Five Years of October) Factory in Moscow. This factory was established using the nationalized Moscow workshop of the legendary pre-revolutionary German instrument maker, Julius Heinrich Zimmermann. It operated under the specific name "Five Years of October" from roughly 1922 to 1932 before being consolidated into larger Soviet State syndicates. The craftsmanship in its early years still utilized Zimmermann's original German machinery, high-quality pre-revolutionary wood reserves, and the expertise of veteran master craftsmen. Given that this English Horn is stamped with serial number 25 (on all parts), indicates that this was part of one of the very first production runs. Moreover, because this factory primarily mass-produced brass instruments (trumpets, baritones, and helicons), the production of complex wooden double-reeds was incredibly limited. Hence, it is highly probable that very few specimens were made and survived to this date making this instrument a rare piece of early 20th-century industrial and cultural history. Condition: This is a true collector's piece being sold in unrestored "as-is" condition! As this instrument is historically interesting, I have chosen to not do restoration work on it and leave that to the eventual owner. This English horn will for sure make a great addition for a professional and/or collector, so don't miss out!!! Included: no extras Shipment: The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped by Deutsche Post (DHL) with tracking. This item is being sold as-is as pictured, so please take a look at the photos carefully as they are part of the description.
