Seiko "Speak Time" talking digital quartz watch, reference A860-4001, in matte silver — the famous "iron mask" voice watch of the 1980s, produced in September 1984. PLEASE NOTE: the matte front plate shows numerous fine scratches with several small chips in the finish, and the bracelet has yellowish-brown spots on several links — please check the photos carefully.

Overview
A Seiko Speak Time A860-4001, one of the world's first talking wristwatches, introduced by Seiko in the mid-1980s and developed with visually impaired users in mind. Pressing the large chrome lever below the display makes the watch announce the time aloud through the distinctive inverted-triangle speaker grille above the LCD — a design that earned it the nickname "Tetsu-kamen" (iron mask) among Japanese collectors. Two-tone matte silver case with the embossed SEIKO emblem on the top plate, on a steel three-row bracelet.

Condition
In good condition with visible signs of wear, consistent with age. The main points to note: the matte silver front plate shows numerous fine scratches and hairlines (especially on the slopes beside the speaker grille and around the display), with several small whitish chips/knocks in the finish near the upper right of the grille, above the display frame and at the step below the SEIKO plate, and wear on the edges of the SEIKO plate; and the bracelet shows yellowish-brown discolouration/rust-like spots on several links (near the clasp, on the centre links and on the link sides), with rub marks on the link edges and fine scratches and haze on the polished clasp. The case sides show small dark spots and marks, and the case back has one small yellowish spot and tiny dark specks. The chrome frame of the display shows slight discolouration at the corners. The LCD cover shows no cracks and the speaker grille is intact. A thorough cleaning is recommended. Please refer to the photos, which form part of the condition description.

Working order
The watch is in working order: the digital display is running and legible with the seconds advancing correctly, and the voice (time-announcement) function has been confirmed as working — the watch speaks the time when the speak lever is pressed. Accuracy has not been professionally tested or guaranteed; given the age of the watch, a battery change or service may be needed for long-term reliability.
