Offered here is a beautifully prepared 80 gram polished and etched slice of the Gyarub Zangbo pallasite, one of the most scientifically intriguing and aesthetically striking recent pallasite discoveries. This specimen displays a striking metal–olivine intergrowth, where translucent olivine crystals are suspended within a nickel–iron matrix that reveals a refined Widmanstätten texture after etching. The slice has been professionally stabilised in epoxy to preserve structural integrity and enhance long-term display quality. Gyarub Zangbo is currently classified as an ungrouped pallasite, distinct from both the Main Group, Eagle Station and Pyroxene pallasites. Mineralogical studies show olivine compositions (Fa ~21–22) and accessory pyroxene phases that are not present in most other pallasite groups, indicating derivation from a chemically and petrologically unique differentiated parent body. Some preliminary interpretations in the meteoritical community have suggested possible links to carbonaceous-chondrite-like reservoirs, based on its isotopic offset from typical inner Solar System materials. However, this remains hypothesis-level interpretation, and no peer-reviewed study has yet confirmed a direct carbonaceous parent body association.
