Lot of 36 Vintage Chinese Calligraphy Brushes – Bamboo Handles with Engraved Inscriptions and Original Labels This lot contains 36 Chinese calligraphy and painting brushes in a variety of sizes and styles. The set shows a good range of brush heads, from large, full-bodied brushes to smaller, finer ones, and appears to use different types of animal hair. Many handles are made of bamboo and carry engraved or hand-written Chinese characters, including maker and shop names and brush descriptions. Several brushes still have their original paper labels and decorative bands, and some have hanging cords or loops at the top. The handles range from natural light bamboo to dark lacquered or aged finishes, giving the set a lovely vintage character. It would suit calligraphy practice, painting, collecting, or display.
