A highly aesthetic Fluorite on Quartz specimen from the famous Yaogangxian Mine, Hunan Province, China. The centerpiece of this specimen is a prominent, beautifully formed green fluorite crystal, dramatically positioned between two layers of sparkling white quartz. The composition gives the impression that the fluorite is naturally framed by the surrounding quartz, making the specimen particularly attractive as a display piece. The fluorite shows a fresh mint to emerald-green colour, with good translucency and attractive internal zoning visible under illumination. Its geometric form contrasts strongly with the numerous smaller quartz crystals covering the matrix. The surrounding snow-white quartz creates an excellent natural contrast with the saturated green fluorite. Numerous quartz terminations reflect the light from different angles, adding brilliance and texture while keeping the fluorite as the clear focal point of the specimen. What makes this piece especially appealing is its balanced architecture: the green fluorite sits prominently in the centre, surrounded above and below by bright quartz, producing an almost sculptural composition.
