Cassapanca - Softwood - με συρτάρι

Important and authentic 18th-century dresser from a dowry, made entirely of solid wood and equipped with a spacious lower drawer.

This piece of furniture represents a refined and authentic testimony of carpentry and cabinetmaking of the Old Era.

The period and the artisanal craftsmanship are confirmed by evident structural details:

Constructional and prestigious details: Interior in Carta Varese: The main compartment and the interior of the drawer are lined with an elegant period Carta Varese, characterized by refined floral motifs in ochre and brown tones, historically applied to protect fabrics and the dowry.

Lock and Hardware in wrought iron: Retains the original visible lock mounted on a hand-forged iron plate with ancient nails.

Even the upper hinge straps are hand-forged and fixed with period head nails.

Woodworking and Construction: The rear panel and the bottom of the drawer show the classic manual period workmanship with axe-planing, with boards side by side and held by dense perimeter nails driven by hand.

Drawer and Base: Wide base drawer with traditional iron/bronze hanging handles, supported by solid carved feet integrated into the structure.

Conditions: The piece presents an excellent warm and original patina. It shows the natural and fascinating signs of time (small surface wear on the wood, natural wear on the bottom of the drawer and period oxidation of the metal).

Note on condition: The interior Carta Varese is well preserved; two small dark age spots on the bottom of the drawer are noted (clearly visible in the detailed photos).

Solid, sound furniture, treated and ready to be placed in period interiors or as a character element in modern interiors.
