Szarvasi – Space Age Floor Lamp – Italian Design Influence – 1970s More than a lamp – a striking piece of vintage design that transforms light into atmosphere. A captivating Space Age floor lamp from the 1970s, featuring the bold geometric forms, vibrant colours and futuristic aesthetics that defined an extraordinary era of European design. This distinctive Szarvasi floor lamp beautifully reflects the spirit of the Space Age movement, with clear stylistic parallels to the innovative Italian lighting design of the 1960s and 1970s. During this remarkable period, Italian designers helped redefine modern lighting through sculptural silhouettes, experimental materials and playful combinations of colour and form. With its two rounded amber-orange shades, deep chocolate-brown details and elegant chrome structure, this lamp captures the visual language of that creative era. The magic begins when the lights are switched on The two beautifully shaped, translucent orange plastic shades are undoubtedly the most captivating feature of this lamp. When switched off, their glossy surfaces display rich amber tones with subtle darker brown shading, giving the lamp a sophisticated vintage appearance. When illuminated, the shades come alive. Light gently passes through the coloured material, transforming the two sculptural forms into glowing amber-orange spheres that fill the surrounding space with warmth and atmosphere. Sculptural beauty meets functional design The two independently adjustable lamp heads are mounted on a slender chrome column, creating an elegant balance between industrial precision and playful retro aesthetics. Each lamp head can be adjusted in height and direction using its mechanical fittings. Individual switches allow the two light sources to operate independently. The deep chocolate-brown circular base completes the composition and provides a harmonious foundation for the lamp's distinctive silhouette. Condition and functionality The lamp is presented in very good vintage condition, retaining its characteristic appearance and beautiful colour combination. Both light sources have been tested and are fully functional. The individual switches and adjustment mechanisms are in proper working order. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the lamp's actual condition.
