Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή
processional cross, Portuguese, eighteenth century, in carved, raised and gilded wood, with elegant Baroque execution. Cross with cut and ornamented shafts with terminals in vegetal scrolls and stylized floral elements, centering a Christ Crucified in carved and polychromed wood, with expressive anatomical modeling and careful painting, evidencing the wounds of the Passion. Gilded splendor arranged at the intersection of the cross arms, conferring greater solemnity to the whole. The turned shaft, richly decorated with phytomorphic elements and Rococo-inspired motifs, rests on a triangular base with cut profiles, richly carved and gilded, intended for fixation on a processional support or display on an altar. A representative piece of Portuguese 18th-century religious imagination, executed according to the canons of the National Baroque, standing out for the quality of the woodcarving, the harmony of proportions, and the excellent decorative effect of gilding in contrast with the polychromy of the Christ figure. Shows signs of use, small wear and slight losses of gilding compatible with antiquity, which do not compromise its historical, artistic and decorative interest. Dimensions: 100 × 30 × 10 cm. Note: This is a piece of great visual impact, suitable for sacred art collections, decoration of historical interiors or integration in religious heritage, being a good exemplar of Portuguese gilded woodcarving of the eighteenth century.
