A distinctively shaped Japanese porcelain bowl (hachi), featuring a unique square form with rounded corners, accompanied by its original signed tomobako (wooden storage box) inscribed with "Sometsuke Tekka Hachi" (Blue and White Iron-Picture Bowl). This piece is distinguished by its vibrant blue and white decoration (sometsuke), depicting stylized sago palm leaves (sotetsu) that sweep elegantly across the pristine white surface. Unlike traditional rustic wares, this bowl showcases a refined, glossy finish typical of high-quality porcelain, offering a crisp and clean aesthetic. The sharp yet balanced geometry of the square form sits stably on a table, making it versatile for serving or display. The interior presents a smooth, pure white glaze that contrasts beautifully with the dynamic blue patterns outside, inviting appreciation of the brushwork's fluidity. Each detail reflects careful craftsmanship, from the precise molding of the square rim to the delicate painting of the foliage. The presence of the signed tomobako confirms its origin as a preserved studio work, likely from the Showa era or later vintage period. Condition: Very good condition, with no visible cracks, chips, or restorations. The glaze is intact and glossy. Please refer to the photos for further details on the condition and the signature.
