The Seiko 5 Actus collection appeared around the end of the 1960s and was created primarily for the Japanese domestic market. The line combined the practicality of Seiko’s automatic day-date movements with more fashionable and refined styling aimed at a younger audience.

Manufactured in August 1970, this example features a silver sunburst dial, applied hour markers and the characteristic framed day-date display. Its angular stainless-steel case, contrasting brushed and polished surfaces and compact crown give it a distinctly early-1970s appearance.

Condition:

The watch is presented in attractive vintage condition. Its silver sunburst dial retains a clearly visible radial finish and changes subtly in appearance depending on the light. The applied hour markers, hands, Seiko and Actus emblems, and framed day-date display remain clearly presented.

The dial shows light age-related patina, including scattered small spots and mild discolouration, particularly around the outer section and minute track. These signs of ageing are visible under close inspection but do not significantly detract from the dial’s overall appearance or legibility.

The stainless-steel case displays scratches, small marks and normal wear consistent with its age and previous use. Its angular profile remains attractive, with the contrasting brushed upper surfaces and polished bezel and case sides still clearly visible. The case edges and lugs remain relatively well defined.

The stainless-steel case back shows surface scratches and signs of wear. The Seiko emblem, reference number and serial number remain clearly legible.

A new, clear and scratch-free crystal and a new black leather strap have been fitted. The calibre 7019A automatic movement has recently been serviced, and all functions are operating correctly. A 3-month guarantee is provided on functionality.
