Art Deco religious pendant depicting the Virgin Mary in profile with halo. Italian manufacture, c.1930s design (post-1968 re-strike of a 1930s model using original mold). Materials: Silver mount with gilt / vermeil accents, central white cameo hand-carved in profile showing age patina (bone or ivory to be confirmed - appears to be bone / ivory, not resin), front with red enameled laurel leaves, reverse with two red marbled panels (enamel / celluloid imitation coral). Hallmarks: • Tiny Italian national maker's mark on the bail: 5-point star ★ + "14 B?" (14 = early registered silversmith, province starting with B, likely BO Bologna or BS Brescia). • No 800 fineness punch legible on the bail at this time. The separate 800 oval may be on the back plate, worn or under tarnish. Good vintage condition. Normal tarnish for silver, light wear to gilding on bottom chevron, micro-scratches and age yellowing on cameo halo. No enamel loss on front. Reverse with light scratches from wear.
