An exceptional specimen of viridine, the rare, manganese-rich green variety of andalusite, from Trikorfo, Thassos. Intense, forest-green viridine crystals are scattered across a white crystalline matrix of feldspar and quartz, accompanied by sparkling flakes of muscovite (mica).
Historical & Collectible Value:
While viridine was first discovered globally in 1889, this specific locality in Thassos gained worldwide fame in 2015. Specimens of this extraordinary quality were debuted at the Munich Show that year, drawing immediate acclaim and a featured report by the Mineralogical Record. This is a classic and historically significant piece for any Greek mineral collection.
