GEORGES LELEU A rare 1935 French art deco table lamp by the famous Paris based company of Georges Leleu (53 rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine). He founded the company by the turn of the century. It closed down in the late 30s. The lamp is a globe shaped base in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. And holds a new handmade fabric shade. 90 Years old fabric shades did not stand the time. I bought lots of 1930 lamps on French flea markets over the years and never the fabric was in an acceptable condition. So I place good looking new replacements of good quality. The base is signed G.Leleu on the bottom. Similar lamps with glass ball shaped bases are represented on the 1935-1936 G.Leleu poster, see last two pictures. The poster is of course no part of this sale. The total height of the lamp is 38 cm. The shade is 30 cm wide. And the glass base has a diameter of 17,5 cm. The lamp is in excellent condition. I have rewired it with nice cloth covered twisted cord. It comes with a European E27 socket so you can use our normal bulbs for it. On catawiki my listings have low reserve prices.
