Όμορφο ινδικό αντίκα σεντούκι-πάγκος - Teak - Ινδία - British Raj (1858-1947)
This is a beautifully preserved antique Damchiya, also known as a dowry chest bench, originating from Rajasthan, India, and dating to the late 19th century. These chests were traditionally used to store a bride's dowry and are now highly sought-after collector's pieces and functional furniture items.
Crafted from solid hardwood (likely teak or sheesham), this piece is a striking example of Rajasthani craftsmanship, featuring:
Hand-carved paneling
Traditional wrought iron hardware
Four decorative turned finials
A lift-up seat revealing a spacious internal storage compartment
Its rustic patina, robust construction, and functional design make it both a beautiful decorative object and a usable bench with hidden storage. The piece stands firmly on four sturdy legs and is in very good antique condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use.
A rare and authentic piece that brings character and history to any interior, ideal for collectors of Anglo-Raj furniture, ethnic antiques, or anyone looking for a statement object with heritage.
