楽焼Raku Ware 赤楽Akaraku (Red Raku) - by 縁山 Enzan - Μπολ τσαγιού - μά γκουάν τσά ουάν - Κεραμικό - Σπάνιο Σχήμα Badara
This Akaraku (Red Raku) Badarai Chawan by Enzan is a rare and highly distinctive form of Japanese tea bowl.
The Badarai chawan takes its name from the shallow basins once used to wash horses, characterized by a wide, open mouth, low profile, and nearly vertical walls. This uncommon shape allows heat to dissipate quickly, giving the bowl a visually and physically cooling presence.
Because of these qualities, Badarai tea bowls are traditionally used in summer tea gatherings (furo season) and are especially suited for preparing usucha (thin tea). Rooted in the aesthetics of Raku ware and the tea philosophy of Sen no Rikyū, this form is far less commonly encountered than standard chawan, making it particularly appealing to seasoned tea practitioners and collectors.
Both functional and sculptural, this piece embodies the quiet strength and wabi-sabi beauty central to the Raku tradition.
