Lladró – Rare porcelain pipe with maritime décor, Spain, 1988
Elegant porcelain pipe created by Lladró, the prestigious Spanish porcelain manufacturer founded in 1953 near Valencia by brothers Juan, José and Vicente Lladró.
World-renowned for their refined figurines, often inspired by themes of nature, romance and tradition, Lladró pieces are highly collectible and sought after internationally.
This unusual pipe demonstrates the house’s creativity beyond figurines. The bowl is richly decorated in high relief with a sailing ship navigating stylised waves, while the curved stem in soft blue adds movement to the design. Entirely handmade and hand-painted, it reflects Lladró’s mastery in combining delicate modelling with glazing.
Produced in Spain during the second half of the 20th century, this pipe was not intended for smoking but as a decorative or collector’s piece. The maritime motif is rare within Lladró’s oeuvre, making this an exceptional acquisition for collectors of porcelain art or nautical-themed objects.
