Item Description: This is a remarkable ceramic flower vase titled “Saiji Ginsai Henko” (彩瓷銀彩扁壺) by the renowned Japanese ceramic artist Katsushi Mori (森 勝資), known for his refined contemporary expression within the framework of traditional Japanese aesthetics. The piece is signed and comes with its original tomobako (wooden box), bearing the artist’s inscription and seal. Crafted in an elegant flattened form (henko), this piece displays a sophisticated interplay of texture and pattern. The surface is decorated with delicate silver overglaze (ginsai) accents atop a subtle earthy-toned body, enhanced by sweeping, organic brushwork and finely carved circular textures that evoke rhythmic natural forms such as flowing water or foliage in wind. The three-lobed mouth adds sculptural interest and a dynamic silhouette, making the piece visually compelling from every angle. Katsushi Mori is a member of the Japan Kōgei Association and has exhibited widely since the early 1980s, including at the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition and the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition. His work is highly regarded for its technical mastery, innovative designs, and poetic sensibility. This flower vase is a prime example of his signature style—harmonious, modern, and deeply rooted in Japanese craftsmanship. This collectible artwork is not only functional as a flower vase but also stands alone as an object of beauty suitable for display in both traditional and modern interiors.
