Authentic large Soviet ceremonial flag of the Ukrainian SSR - embroidered Lenin portrait and coat of arms, issued to winners of socialist competitions. Museum-level historical textile from the USSR era.
Description
This authentic large ceremonial banner of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (Ukrainian SSR) represents one of the most symbolic visual artifacts of the Soviet Union (USSR) era.
Measuring an impressive 185 × 80 cm, this embroidered satin flag was used during official parades, state ceremonies, and mass celebrations across the Soviet Union. Such banners were awarded to factories, collectives, and organizations that demonstrated outstanding achievements in socialist labor competitions — a form of state recognition that embodied the ideology of Marxism-Leninism and the Communist Party’s leadership.
The front side of the banner features the profile of Vladimir Lenin, meticulously crafted with golden and brown embroidery threads, accompanied by the iconic slogan:
- “Proletarians of all countries, unite!”
and the inscription:
- “Under the invincible banner of Marxism-Leninism, under the leadership of the Communist Party – forward to the victory of communism!”
The reverse side presents the coat of arms of the Ukrainian SSR and the inscription:
“Winner in Socialist Competition”
– highlighting the banner’s ceremonial function as a prestigious award flag.
The entire composition is bordered with decorative gold fringe, typical of parade banners used during official Soviet holidays such as May Day (International Workers’ Day), Revolution Day, and Victory Day.
To carry such a banner during a parade was considered a great honor and mark of trust — often reserved for distinguished workers, students, or veterans of labor.
Crafted from red satin fabric with hand-embroidered lettering and emblem, this banner embodies the visual power and ideological aesthetics of Soviet propaganda art.
Today, it stands as a highly collectible historical textile, sought after by collectors of Soviet memorabilia, Cold War artifacts, and vintage political symbols.
