Description
A decorative pair of Chinese porcelain bonsai planters, also known as jardinières, dating to the late 19th century (Guangxu period, 1875–1908). Each planter is painted in underglaze cobalt blue. The form is distinctive with a double rim: the outer rim features an open lattice design, while the inner rim is fully closed. This combination gives the pieces both elegance and a special architectural quality.
An attractive and unusual pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain planters, made for the display of bonsai or small plants.

Guangxu period, Qing dynasty (late 19th century, 1875–1908)
