John Gossage, born New York 1946, now residing in Washington, DC, has always been a photographer. Studying briefly with Lisette Model and Alexey Brodovitch in 1960 to 1961. In the late 1960's he learned Telecaster guitar from Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton, later giving up professional music in 1973 and returning to photography. Showing from 1974 through 1990 with Leo Castelli Gallery in New York. Then from 1990 on concentrating almost exclusively upon publications. Producing 17 different books and boxes on specific bodies of photographic work. John Gossage has collaborated with some of the biggest names in photography, including Terri Weifenbach and Martin Parr.
