Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

This is a beautifully crafted Japanese Yunomi (tea cup) featuring a striking Shino-yaki glaze, characterized by its milky white surface with warm reddish-brown accents and crater-like textures. The uneven rim and naturalistic indentations reflect the Wabi-sabi aesthetic, celebrating imperfection and organic form.
This intentional imperfection is beautifully balanced, making it an ideal piece for any collection.

It comes with its original wooden box (tomobako), which includes a handwritten signature and seal by the artist. While the box shows some staining and signs of age, the cup itself is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

Size:
Height:8.9㎝
Diameter:8.5㎝

Artist Profile:
The artist's signature is on the back of the wooden box.Further details about the artist are not provided but the calligraphy and red seal indicate a traditionally trained Japanese ceramic artist.

Shiro Shino is one of the most basic and representative types of Shino ware. This piece makes the most of its distinctive, thick, milky-white glaze.

Also known as "plain Shino," this unpainted piece is an exceptionally clean style that relies solely on the white glaze and the texture of the clay.

This piece is completely covered in Shino ware's distinctive thick, milky-white glaze.
Shino ware is a type of pottery that originated in Mino (present-day the Tono region of Gifu Prefecture) in the late Muromachi period (first half of the 16th century).

The various expressions created by the firing process, such as the reddish-brown patterns caused by the iron in the clay that appear in the thinner parts of the glaze, and the fine irregularities, bubbles, and tiny cracks that form on the glaze's surface, are enjoyed as "scenery."

While not flashy, this piece's appeal lies in the simple warmth of the clay and the bold, powerful shapes created by the thickness of the glaze.
