Nakamura Soho was born in 1899 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. Gifted at drawing from a young age, Soho went on to Miyagi Prefectural First Junior High School and then to the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts), where he studied Japanese painting under Matsuoka Eikyu. After graduating, he continued to create, primarily exhibiting at the Teiten Exhibition, but after the war ended, he left Tokyo and returned to Sendai. He continued to work in Sendai, where he was continuously selected for the reorganized Nitten Exhibition, eventually becoming exempt from the selection process. Within the prefecture, he served as an advisor to the Kahoku Art Exhibition and headed the art group Hakushinkai, where he also mentored the next generation of artists. He passed away in 1974.
