Item Description
This is a charming pair of large creative kokeshi dolls, each crafted in a unique combination of traditional wooden kokeshi heads and natural birch log bodies. These pieces stand out for their strong sense of handcraft and artistry, blending folk charm with a distinctly rustic aesthetic.

The larger kokeshi features a beautifully painted face with expressive brushwork and is mounted on a carved birch trunk. The body is decorated with an atmospheric mountain landscape, complete with a river, wooden bridge, and handwritten Japanese calligraphy that adds poetic depth to the scene.

The smaller kokeshi has a softer, cheerful facial expression and is similarly mounted on natural birch wood. Its body depicts a pastoral landscape with birch trees and a stone monument, rendered in warm earthy tones. Each figure preserves the natural bark of the birch tree, allowing the texture of the wood to harmonize with the hand-painted artwork.
