Product Description
This tea bowl by Miura Chikuchiku features a traditional Japanese wooden hammer motif, making it a precious piece for both tea ceremonies and decorative purposes.
Miura Chikuchiku's father was a master craftsman over 100 years ago, and in 1944, he inherited his father's skills and was certified as a Japanese Technical Preservationist.
This piece was selected for the 1962 Japan-France Friendship Ceramics Exhibition.
It is crafted in Kyo-yaki, one of Japan's most representative ceramic styles.
This beautiful piece, created over 60 years ago, is an exceptionally rare find.
The couple's tea bowls are Kutani ware, featuring a kite-flying motif. Kite-flying is a traditional Japanese event held during the New Year, and kite-flying competitions are also held.
It was fired in a kiln (old Kutani) built by Maeda Toshiharu, the first lord of the Daishoji Domain, in Kaga City (formerly Kutani Village), Ishikawa Prefecture, in the early Edo period (circa 1655). Legend has it that Goto Saijiro, who was invited from Arita, built a kiln using pottery stone discovered within the domain. This is a valuable piece that conveys traditional Japanese crafts to the present day.
The shapes and colors of the sophisticated patterns captivate the viewer, exuding exceptional splendor, beauty, and elegance.
It's a captivating piece that you can gaze upon forever.
