Collection of Four Large Flightless Bird Eggs – Ostrich, Emu, Rhea, and Cassowary An impressive comparative set of four genuine eggs from the world’s largest flightless birds (Ratites). Ostrich (Struthio camelus) – the largest, ivory-coloured egg with a finely pitted surface. Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) – dark green to almost black with a textured, glossy shell. Rhea (Rhea americana) – slightly smaller, pale white-cream egg with a smooth surface. Don't know for sure what the fourth is.. Each egg is naturally emptied and preserved, showing the striking differences in size, colour, and surface structure among these remarkable species. Dimensions given above are just for the Ostrrich egg. ( the largest one.) The chicken egg is purely for the size differents. Not part of this lot. Condition: very good; natural minor variations and ventilation holes. (Where they were blown out.) A beautiful and educational display set illustrating avian diversity across continents – Africa, South America, and Australasia. Or for a Still life painter, like my Dad was.
