Unmakingart

I’m Shyne Eghosa, a self-taught artist from Nigeria, currently living and working in Barcelona. I began painting in 2023 after moving to Spain. My work draws from African cultural forms, particularly masks, blended with the textures and energy of Barcelona. I work with raw surfaces such as wood, fabric, pigment, and marble dust, building layered, tactile pieces that carry memory and presence. Alongside my practice, I co-founded Unmaking Art Studio, a not-for-profit art space in Barcelona that supports emerging and underrepresented artists, with a focus on Artists of African descent and Women Artists, while encouraging collaboration across all cultures. The studio grew from a personal need to build a space where both I and others could feel more at ease navigating the art world. My work has been selected through curated, merit-based processes for exhibitions and publications including: * Homiens – Meet the Artist, April, 2026 Issue. * Art Fluent – CHROMA Juried exhibition. * Chianciano Juried Biennale 2024. I have also participated in numerous group exhibitions in Barcelona, held two solo exhibitions at Unmaking Art Studio, and collaborated with Studio 46, a well-established atelier. My work is held in gallery collections including Tobian Art Gallery in Florence, Italy.
